I’m happy to announce that after a lot of work today, I’ve gotten the UVTEK Software web site into a “beta test” stage. I am still working toward a Spring-time official launch date, but it is at the point now where it can receive some traffic without too much embarrassment. I am planning to release the first public beta of my Defector software (which Cynthia once inadvertantly called my “mistake” software hehe) this Sunday. 112 words.

The weeks leading up to a workshop are some of the most chaotic and panicked times in the life of Gulag 727, and this time is proving to be no exception. In this case, the workshop begins on May 6 in Texas, near The Alamo (how’s that for ironic). All the usual elements for extremely elevated blood pressure levels are in place, only they seem even more magnified than usual: Too many projects to finish at once, inability to decide on final project goals, lowered nicotine levels, excess shipping leftover from the recent major upgrade, disgruntled employees, disgruntled customers, clueless supervisors. 513 words.

You may be surprised to note that uvtek.net is still in the same place. (You may not have noted this at all, but it’s true.) That’s because I decided it would be better to wait until around November 1 to move the server, because it’s already been paid through the end of November. That way, if there are any problems on the new server, I can switch it back to the old server within the 30-day money-back-guarantee period. 78 words.

We picked up our train tickets to New York yesterday! While surfing the web (for something completely unrelated), I came across something that I found most highly entertaining. If you go to the URL http://www.kid-coloring-page-online.com/history-of-crayola-crayons, you will find a list of resources and links on the “history of the crayola crayon.” Now if you scroll about 3/4 of the way down this list, you will find a link to a site called “Crayola Clan history.” This links to the very same Crayola Clan history found on this site! Har-har. Hee-hee. Anyway, I think it’s the funniest thing ever. Imagine all the young impressionable kids looking for information about crayola crayons and finding the Crayola Clan history. “Mommy, what’s a frag? Why did the nice crayons shoot all those other people?” 287 words.
