NFL 2025 Week 9 (NFC East)
446 words.
What a surprise, I forgot to publish again.
Stick a fork in it, it’s done. What an absolutely embarrassing display from the Washington Commanders in Week 9, the exact thing we’ve come to expect for the last 30 years. Proof positive that last year was the most unbelievable fluke in American football history. What a waste of time it was to watch football again this year.
The Commanders were absolutely blown out by the Seattle Seahawks 38-14 on Sunday Night Football. There was never a single moment that the Commanders were competitive for the entire game. I turned the game off before halftime. It was worse than the score indicates, even worse than the Chiefs game, where they at least showed up for the first half. Seriously, I can’t stress enough how much the outcome of the game was never in doubt from the first five minutes of play. The Seahawks dominated every aspect of that game, while the Commanders played like children without a coach.
And hey, guess what? Jayden Daniels got hurt again. Again. For the third time this season. Rumor has it he’s out for the rest of the season. It’s probably for the best because there’s exactly zero chance the Commanders are going to make the playoffs this year, so they might as well rest him and start planning for next season. And by the way there’s also a huge stack of other major injuries with the Commanders, from running backs to receivers to defensive ends.
Turn the lights out, the party’s over.
In the rest of the NFC East, the New York Giants lost to the San Francisco 49ers 38-24, winning the race to the bottom of the division for another week.
The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, a game that many decades ago would have been a division game, believe it or not. The game put me in the unenviable position of having to root for the 2-5 Cardinals, a team that, with very rare exceptions in the 2000s, usually fades into obscurity and mediocrity. But lo the Cardinals looked great as they won 27-17, making it a three-way race for last place in the NFC East.
The Philadelphia Eagles had their bye week and didn’t play.
| Week 9 | |
|---|---|
| Philadelphia Eagles | 6-2 |
| Dallas Cowboys | 3-5-1 |
| Washington Commanders | 3-6 |
| New York Giants | 2-7 |
Honestly there’s really no point in continuing these blog posts. It’s just going to be “hey what a shock the Commanders lost” every week. The only thing in doubt is whether or not they will end up going from the NFC Championship game last year to last place in the division this year.
