Reviewers

148 words.

Slashdot had an article about a game reviewer who was allegedly fired for giving a bad review of a game. This does not surprise me… I have always been skeptical of magazine reviewers because of my Amiga experience in the 1990s, and additionally I have always heard rumors and speculation about “corrupt” game reviewers.

I’m starting to wonder about X-Play, too. They’re now doing shows devoted entirely to one game, where they visit with the developer and give a bunch of background information and tips and tricks and then at the end of the show they give their review. Coincidentally, those games tend to get scores of 5 out of 5. To me, that just screams out “paid advertisement.” Especially since they gave Call of Duty 4 a five and didn’t mention a thing about the insanely brief single player campaign. So much for “brutally honest game reviews.”
