Barack and Pakistan

Note: I think it’s about time for me to declare blogging bankruptcy. I am defining this somewhat like email bankruptcy, except it is a declaration that I will never, ever be able to find time to write polished blog posts on the subjects running around in my head. So I’m going to revert to a more stream-of-consciousness format.
Partisans decry Barack Obama as a “bimbo” for wanting to invade Pakistan to get OBL, saying this is dumb because Pakistan is a close ally in the war on terror. Of course the partisans fail to mention that Pakistan has been playing both sides… Musharraf says he is our ally and takes our money yet for five years he has refused to seriously engage the Taliban in Waziristan where OBL is probably hiding. (Though recent events with the Red Mosque assault etc. indicate perhaps Pakistan is starting to get serious — also that the Bush administration is already applying the pressure that Barack wanted to apply.)
