ABC World News Last Night
206 words.
Last night’s ABC World News was annoying. The top story was about Michael Chertoff’s infamously irresponsible “gut feeling” about an impending terror strike this summer and the super scary “elevated chatter” going on. I couldn’t help but recall that the government and the media has informed us about this same “elevated chatter” every summer since 9/11. (Maybe we were listening the first six times that nothing whatsoever happened, but are people really going to buy it a seventh time?)
Oh, but this time we have the super scary British doctor terrorists running around loose. You know, the ones who can’t build a proper car bomb, can’t manage to hurt a single person and can’t even commit suicide even after lighting themselves on fire. Yeah, I’m really worried. (Yes, I’m completely prepared to eat my words if a terrorist attack really does happen in the U.S. this summer.)
Then, as if that wasn’t enough needless rumor-mongering, later we were treated to a heartwarming story about how easy it “might be” to get materials to “maybe” make “what could be” a dirty bomb. Thanks to ABC World News, the terrorists don’t even have to get out of bed to scare us into submission. Way to go, American media.
