DailyKos says: Bush lied about that perch. Which was based on the reporting of Americablog, which says: Bush tells German paper he caught the largest fresh-water perch in world history. Which was based on the “reporting” of the Stacy Taylor Show on KLSD-AM in San Diego.
Sounds like Bush is a real liar, huh? Too bad all that crack reporting was wrong. As seen on Countdown last night and in the official White House transcript of the interview, Bush actually caught a 7.5 pound bass, completely nullifying the BushLiedPerchesDied(TM) argument. (No comment on the relevance of the fish story to begin with.)
Americablog offers an extremely grudging correction to its story, but they still obviously cling to the desperate hope that Bush may have somehow lied about the fish on purpose. DailyKos thus far has not corrected its story (as of 1 PM EST).
I offer this not as any kind of political endorsement of Bush, but as (yet still further) evidence that DailyKos and Americablog don’t really care much about facts when they attack the president. They’d use the color of Bush’s tie as evidence of Republican corruption if they thought their audience would buy it.
