The War Against Introverts

Part 4 in a Special 4-Part Series: Random Thoughts Of Thursday

This isn’t normally seen as a battle in the culture war, but I think it should be: The War against Introverts. Mrs. Krehbiel will confirm that for quite some time, I’ve opined that success in America, monetary or otherwise, is much more a function of social glibness than technical skills. This puts most introverts way behind the eight ball in America, and in the unfortunate position of having to beat out the competition solely through demonstrably superior skills. (You’d think that would be a requirement for advancement in any workplace, but you’d be dead wrong.) Anyway, today I found a nice article on Andrew Sullivan discussing the brutal discrimination against introverts in our “extrovertist society:” Caring for Your Introvert. Since I’m a Protestant middle-class Caucasian heterosexual male, this is my only chance to make it into the “victimized minority” category. :)
