The Cycle Continues

Here’s a notable poll: Gallup: More Than Half of Americans Reject Evolution, Back Bible. (The title is, of course, misleading.) I haven’t seen it done yet, but I’m sure Intelligent Design proponents will soon begin using these poll results to validate their thesis, using the age-old scientific principle which states, “If most people believe X, then X must be true.”
The trouble with that is, most people are stupid, and believe whatever you tell them (present company excluded, of course). The booming advertising industry and the rampant success of Microsoft Windows proves this. So, most people will probably believe the ID proponents when they explain that ID must be taught because polls show most people believe in Biblical creation. None but a handful will stop and think for a moment about how it was also once widely believed and taught that the Sun revolved around the Earth, and the vicious cycle of exploiting the ignorant will continue.
