The Agonist Goes All Wacko

223 words.

This is an outrage: Sovereignty and Somalia. I’m appalled that The Agonist is trying to characterize the Islamic Courts Union’s takeover of Somalia as a good thing. More than that, he’s saying it’s good for the people of Somalia. And even beyond that, he goes so far as to say that terrorist organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Taliban (and the ICU, I guess) are the only groups that really stick up for the everyday common folk in their respective countries.

I’m all for looking at things from different perspectives, but I just can’t make any sense out of that. Terrorist groups abuse the common folk more than anyone! They put their military bases in schools and hospitals! They talk people into needlessly blowing themselves up! The Agonist says the Somali people prefer the ICU over the transitional government, so we (and Ethiopia) should honor their sovereignty and their choice. If I were a Somalian I’d probably say I liked the ICU too, because they tend to kill you if you don’t. Read this article to see how, now that the ICU is in charge of one Somali town, you’ll be beheaded if you don’t pray five times a day. Yay, let’s all move there right away!
