I guess that old joke about incumbents having to be caught with a dead girl or a live boy to lose an election isn’t so funny anymore, in light of Mark Foley’s resignation following hinky emails to teen page boys.
On a lighter note, the George Allen Insult Generator on Slate is pretty amusing. I didn’t see it, but there was also apparently a George Allen parody on Saturday Night Live. I wonder if all this piling-on against Allen might work to his advantage; I’m actually starting to feel sorry for the guy. :)
There was some kind of hubbub about Phil Kellam (D) and Thelma Drake (R) in the Virginia blogosphere last week, but I didn’t pay much attention since it’s a Congressional race down in Virginia Beach. Apparently Bearing Drift (a right-wing blog in Virginia Beach), inspired by the hard-hitting story of George Allen using the N-word 30 years ago, sought to further increase public discourse on current issues by revealing that Kellam plead guilty to assault charges 28 years ago after yelling at a woman following a traffic accident.
