Ramblings

An internet hardware vendor who shall remain nameless sent me an OEM copy of Windows XP Pro SP1a without a Certificate of Authenticty (and thus without a Product Key, which as I’m sure you realize is really what you’re paying for). Of course, they have a no return/exchage policy on software. Well, we’ll see about that, won’t we!

Addendum: Just as I was typing this, I received an email response (in less than 30 minutes) from the aforementioned nameless hardware vendor explaining how I can get a Product Key from Microsoft. I am currently waiting on hold to talk with The Big M.

As you can probably guess from the above, I ordered a large number of computer upgrade parts recently to beef up the old Krehbiel home computer network. Two of the three computers are up and running now (I would be working on the third one now if not for the aforementioned nameless hardware vendor). Naturally I found several other things I should have purchased.

Work is crazy lately. Just plain crazy.

The hurricane buzz has died to nothing, now that everyone has their power back (at least, I assume they do - there are no more hourly reports of the number of people without power). There is still a tree lying in our neighbor’s front yard though. (Admittedly this is better than it lying on their roof.)

Arnold is governor of California?? Actually, I don’t really care. But I still want to get one of those campaign t-shirts that says “Vote for me if you want to live.” I wonder if they’re still available.

We are currently working to buy all of the available X-Files DVDs from eBay. So far I have secured seasons 3, 5, 6, and 7 (I already had 1) at prices about 32% less than average retail prices. Now the nerves kick in as we wait to see if we actually receive in decent condition what we paid for.

That is all.

(Still on hold.)
