A Typical Day

Monday’s are always a major drag at Cerebral Locomotion, being as how nobody I know actually likes returning to that oppressive psychotic nightmare after a weekend of freedom. But today was a particularly major soul-sucking drag.
Apparently over the weekend, Julio advertised in the Richmond Times Dispatch classifieds that he was hiring a Psychology Assistant. Well, um, the Psychology Assistant who has been working there almost a year now found that somewhat inexplicable and offensive. This at least gives me extra incentive to read the classifieds every week-not to find a new job, but to find out if I'm going to be replaced at my current job.
Then Julio calls me from his cell phone as he's riding back from a weekend vacation with his family and proceeds to insult my professional expertise about 18 times. "Make sure you add comments that say we can't use those two variables at the same time," Julio says, implying that I have left something out. "Sure," I say, looking right at the comments that have been in place for over four months that explain you can't use those two variables at the same time. At least I know why Julio wasn't driving. "These variables are kind of tricky," Julio says, insinuating that my design is flawed. I don't remark on that one, but I think quite a few colorful thoughts as I remember Julio requesting that the program be capable of enormously complex logic. "These two options don't really fit in with this program, let's leave them out," Julio says. "Okay," I say, lamenting all the wasted hours I spent adding those options-at Julio's request-that any moron could have seen didn't fit with the rest of the program. "We're going to simplify these programs to get them out the door," Julio says. "Uh-huh," I say, stifling a yawn while thinking it's about time he figures this one out. "Oh, we're sitting in the parking lot now, so I'm going to hang up and I'll come in and talk to you some more," Julio says. "Oh goody," I say, wondering yet again if anyone would care if I stuck a pen in Julio's eye.
Thankfully I have more VIsual Basic tutoring to look forward to tomorrow. I feel sorry for all you people who have meaningless, unsatisfying jobs!
