Two weeks worth because I forgot to do it last week during my week off.
08:55 # When I started my Next.js blog project, I was trying to read and render all the Markdown content within the Next.js app, but then I abandoned that in favor of having Hugo render the Markdown to json. Now I’m starting to think that was a mistake and I should have indexed and rendered all the Markdown files myself. Sigh. What to do. #blog #development
- 08:59 # There are certain problems related to figuring out which posts are in which sections, and navigating between sections of posts, that Hugo doesn’t solve very well, that I can solve better with my own solution. Perhaps I will end up with a mixed solution. Hugo renders the Markdown for individual posts, but I create the sections/lists/navigation myself. Still a bit of a journey from here to there though. Sigh. #blog #development
09:41 # Arg arg grumble grumble. I had an eye doc appointment this morning but I completely forgot about it so I had to reschedule it for January. Was really looking forward to getting new/updated prescription.
- 14:48 # You know, I generally wouldn’t mind video ad breaks except they have an uncanny knack for starting to play right after I’ve gotten up and walked away from the screen, so I can’t hit the “skip” button immediately, and then that means they assume since I haven’t skipped it, that I must really want to see a second one, and by the time I get back to the screen, it’s too late to do anything about it.
09:54 # In the middle of a holiday vacation. Pretty much ignoring the world and getting frustrated by Baldur’s Gate 3 again. Some of the combat encounters are ridiculously unfair until or unless you figure out the one specific thing you can do to counter the unfairness, and that sort of rock-paper-scissors combat style is pretty annoying to me. Just make things fair from the start, not just fair for people who read a wiki guide first. #baldursgate3
09:55 # Incidentally, I had intended to switch my blog to a Next.js blog this week but I kind of lost interest and don’t care about it anymore, so it’s probably going to stay the same for a while, unless I change my mind on another day. #blog
- 12:40 # Somewhere I heard or read that 2023 was one of the best years for games, and I’m looking over Steam’s list of best sellers for the year, and I can’t help but wondering… where exactly were the memorable games that came out this year? I only remember like one game that anyone talked about for more than a week, and that one was buggy as hell, and remains buggy as hell despite 15 patches. A lot of the best sellers aren’t even from 2023. #gaming
- 21:04 # In the epic Baldur’s Gate 3 game that won’t ever end, I’ve completed Shadowheart and Astarion’s companion quests. Now to deal with the bad guys. Then there’s a whole other area to get through. Sigh. I really hope the next/last? area is not as big as the last two. At some point you just want to finish a game, ya know? #baldursgate3
