Partisan Bickering Stinks

154 words.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m weary of all the partisan games over the Iraq “war” funding bill. Both Republican and Democratic legislators alike are acting thoroughly childish, imho.

I can’t side with Democrats because the timeline is an obvious political maneuver to take credit for ending the war. (Even though the war ended four years ago.) I can’t side with Republicans because they keep harping the ridiculous talking point that government oversight equates to surrendering to terrorists. (Even though the war ended four years ago.)

Everybody with half a brain knows that leaving Iraq all at once would be disastrous, as would staying indefinitely, so I predict that Democrats and Republicans will both end up using exactly the same strategy in the end, no matter how they label it: They’ll reduce troop levels prudently but not precipitously over the course of years or decades while the post-war Iraqi government stabilizes itself.
