Virginia Fallen: Staff Sgt. Robert Stanley and Sgt. Michael C. Peek

146 words.

I’m continuing to briefly mention fallen soldiers from Virginia as my own personal homage. I heard about these on the radio this morning:

Staff Sgt. Robert Stanley of Fredericksburg, Virginia was killed by a bomb blast in Iraq Monday. From the Times-Dispatch: “He liked what he was doing. He thought he could make a difference,” his father said. “He didn’t like war, but he thought he was helping the people over there.”

Sgt. Michael C. Peek of Chesapeake, Virginia was killed last Saturday by an improvised explosive device in Iraq. The family hasn’t commented, but the Virginian-Pilot located his MySpace page. (I’m not sure how I feel about that… I’ll let the reader decide.)
