This sounds like good news in the GWOT: Nasrallah is fast losing popularity even in its own ranks. Captain’s Quarters also chimes in: Arabs Increasingly See Lebanon As A Loss.
Kind of funny: Drone photo said to show Taliban. I like this story for two reasons: 1) The picture will hopefully scare the crap out of the Taliban (which makes me think it was an intentional leak), and 2) not that they deserve it, but we refrained from attacking a funeral, which is an honorable thing to do (and good PR).
I have mixed feelings about this tribunal thing: Powell joins opponents of Bush tribunal plan. I like Colin Powell, but one of his arguments, which we’ve seen before, doesn’t make sense to me: “To redefine [Geneva Conventions] Common Article III … it would put our own troops at risk.” How much worse could our troops be treated by terrorists than they already are? In other words, I don’t think that’s a very convincing argument when we’re in a “war” with 9th century barbarians who have not yet experienced The Enlightenment.
