Imbalance In Casualty Coverage

163 words.

There’s been a lot grumbling in the right-wing blogosphere over how much more attention the media is paying to the civilian casualties in Lebanon as opposed to the civilian casualties in Israel. Most accuse the media of a pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic bias, as is their stock-in-trade.

Today I’d like to propose a slightly different viewpoint, inspired by this CNN news report: Israel under rocket fire. The media may not be covering Israeli casualties because Hezbollah can’t hit anything! They fired almost 200 rockets into Israel and only came up with 1 kill and some 20 wounded, “none seriously.” You’ve got to be kidding me. And that’s after they’ve packed their rockets with ball-bearings to maximize civilian wounding! What a colossal waste of ammunition.

So anyway, it seems to me that the bloodthirsty media is just going where the people are actually getting killed. Clearly, despite Hezbollah’s best efforts, they aren’t doing much damage to Israel, while Israel is wreaking havoc on Hezbollah’s human shields.
