Israel At War?
240 words.
My knowledge of the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict is limited, but recent news seems to suggest that the U.S. probably backed Israel for no other reason than the fact that they were the only ones around that didn’t act like impetuous toddlers: Israel sends tanks into Lebanon after Hezbollah attack. Golly, that was a poorly constructed sentence. Thankfully I don’t use a grammar checker. :)
So now we’ve got Hamas (by proxy) kidnapping an IDF soldier in the Gaza strip, and Iranian-favorite Hezbollah kidnapping two IDF soldiers in Lebanon. What is wrong with those people? (By those people, I mean of course the terrorist groups.) They can’t possibly think this will result in anything but a huge escalation in the already-brewing hostilities. Oh wait, I forgot they don’t care about all the collateral damage it will cause. Actually, they probably want as much collateral damage as possible so they can blame it on Israel. Pretty soon we’ll be hearing Lebanon whine about Israel’s attempts to recover their missing soldiers, as if there’s something wrong with that. Surely it says in the Qur’an somewhere, “reap ye what ye sow.”
Anyway, this seems like a pretty alarming turn of events at the Israeli borders, but maybe it’s been like this all the time and I just never noticed it before. I’ll have to rely on the media to tell me whether this is a “full-scale” war or just a “low-grade” war.
