Last Week In The Virginia Senate Race
130 words.
Dick Wadhams, campaign manager for George Allen, and Steve Jarding, spokesman for Jim Webb, spent the week trading insults over the flag burning amendment (Allen is for it, Webb opposes it). The unfortunately-named Wadhams was trying to bait Webb into “blowing up” by deliberately pushing his buttons. As far as I can tell, nothing in the way of intelligent debate occurred.
A SurveyUSA Poll released last Wednesday showed that if the election were held now, Allen would win 56-37. On Sunday, an “internal poll,” whatever that is, showed Allen leading by only 46-39.
In the Democratic radio address this past weekend, Jim Webb attacked Bush for mismanaging the “war.”
And most importantly, both candidates will be marching in Fourth of July parades, which is a critical skill for any Senator.
