It’s The End Of The World…
200 words.
Since I have the good fortune to be working with a SQL query that takes about 15 minutes to execute, I have some spare writing time today. Sadly, just like yesterday, there is nothing particularly interesting to write about. Today’s trend in blogosphere conversation: D-Day and End Times. Today (6/6/06) is the beginning of the Apocalypse, if you didn’t know, and it’s also the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy. You can read more about these things at, oh, every other blog in the universe.
This amusing anecdote on Virginia Centrist illustrates the sad, sad state of our supposedly enlightened society: Anecdote. Not that more proof was needed, but it reinforces my fundamental belief that America is populated with jello-brained zombies who believe everything they hear, and that businessmen and politicians cheerfully take advantage of that fact whenever possible. Not that I’m cynical or anything.
Speaking of politics, I’m a little disappointed that I haven’t gotten a Jim Webb mailer yet. I guess that means Miller and Webb aren’t using the same “likely Democratic voter” mailing list. Maybe Miller used some high-tech, ethically-questionable data mining techniques to come up with our address (we’ve gotten 5 Miller mailers so far).
