Garbage Time

105 words.

Sitting here watching the clock in the work week’s equivalent of “garbage time” (that portion of a football game after which the losing team has given up any hope of winning the game), I’m reminded that in my last job, the boss frequently liked to use this time-yes, the final hour of the final day of the work week-to brainstorm, go over status reports, and plan for the future. It gives one some perspective. While it might seem that watching the second hand tick by on a clock might cause some resentment or bad feelings, I can honestly say: It could be a lot worse.
