Green Pigs and Cell Records

195 words.

There’s nothing really to snipe at this morning, so I’ll have to get creative.

With apologies to Dave Barry, I am not making this up: Taiwan breeds green-glowing pigs. Yes, pigs crossbred with jellyfish so that they glow florescent green when you shine a blue light on them. Seriously. There are pictures and everything.

There’s been quite a hubbub in the blogosphere about everyone’s cell phone records being for sale to anyone who wants them. If you haven’t heard, there are various web sites around that will sell anyone’s cell phone records to you for $90-$110, no questions asked. Just give them a cell number and a credit card number and that’s it. It was originally reported in the Washington Post last July (Online Data Gets Personal: Cell Phone Records for Sale). Then the Chicago Sun-Times reported on it again on 5 January (Your phone records are for sale). The blogosphere picked it up and ran with it. AMERICAblog actually bought Wesley Clark’s phone records to demonstrate how easy it was to do. Now I hear that the “MSM” (Mainstream Media) is picking it up and reporting on it. Could senate hearings be far behind?
