Book of Daniel

We taped The Book of Daniel and watched it over the weekend. We willfully and maliciously fast-forwarded through the commercials while we laughed ourselves silly in defiance of Big Media. Sorry, I digress. Controversy swirls around this show, mostly spurred on by (of course) the Christian conservatives at the AFA. (You’d think they would be happy to see Episcopalians go down in flames.) The most controversial thing I saw in the show was a black maid. When have we seen that on prime-time television since, like, the 1950s?
It was quirky and funny. And quirky. A lot of reviewers are calling it a rip-off of Arrested Development, but I never saw that show so obviously that doesn’t bother me. Anyway, it has potential for an entertaining diversion once a week. As for the people calling it “anti-Christian,” give me a break. Those people apparently have never seen what goes on behind-the-scenes at a church. I could tell you some stories! Though admittedly, none of them would include the Mafia.
