Week End – A Pretty Boring Week

News and observations from the week.
In The News
It’s been another dead week, as far as I can tell. One of these days I’d love to do a statistical analysis to see just what percentage of news articles are about games still in development. I bet it would approach 50%.
Last weekend, Tennocon, the Warframe fan conference, happened. The biggest news I remember hearing was Warframe coming to the Switch. That wacky Switch thing seems just crazy enough to work. It’s slowly but steadily gaining momentum month after month.
Defiance 2050 is officially out now. I played it for maybe a half hour. It’s so identical to Defiance I was sure I had run the wrong version. It’s not a new game, it’s just the next version number of the previous game. Same models, same textures, same UI, same voiceovers, same cut scenes-there’s not much point in writing a post about it. I think there might have been some subtle changes in the tutorial-at one point you could pick up a minigun I don’t remember seeing before-but that’s the only change I noticed.
Somebody else is working on another “gaming history” book. This time, the subject is Ultima Online. Another one is out about Star Wars Galaxies. These things fascinate me because I’ve thought a lot about writing one of these kinds of books myself.
My Week
Pretty boring, as I’ve been avoiding typing and gaming as much as possible to rest my hands. Toward the end of the week I finished up BioShock Remastered in about an hour’s time over two days. I used an (older) Apple wireless keyboard connected via. Bluetooth, which actually worked surprisingly well for gaming.
Don’t forget about Blaugust Reborn! I updated my experimental blogroll plugin so I can show the Blaugust participants over there. The list comes from a live OPML link from my feed reader so every time I drop new feeds in my reader they show up on the side over there.
