Dispatches from @ultrviolet@gts.endgameviable.com:

Possible spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 1.

11:46 # Catching up on video descriptions this morning after yesterday’s Baldur’s Gate 3 blitz. Kind of a tedious process. Particularly since I want to keep a running tally of memorable statistics, so sometimes I have to scrub through the videos to remember if I did things like camp or use revivify scrolls or not. And sometimes it’s hard to think of an exciting way to say “fought monsters for xp.” Total length of narrative descriptions now up to 6,700 words just for Act 1. I kind of hope Act 2 and (presumably there’s a) 3 isn’t as long. #baldursgate3

11:47 # I just found Amelia Tyler’s Baldur’s Gate 3 Narrator Outtakes videos on YouTube. Fun stuff. #baldursgate3

15:47 # Baldur’s Gate 3. Close call with some hook horrors just now. Wouldn’t have been a problem but a stupid wizard showed up and wrecked everything. Three in the party went down, Astarion barely got away back to camp. Then he had to go back to revivify Tavi because Withers wouldn’t recall her body! (Another bug or intentional limitation? Who knows?) A miracle everyone survived and I kept all forward progress and didn’t have to reload. #baldursgate3

18:44 # Baldur’s Gate 3. I had some hope of getting through the Underdark and closing out Act 1 this weekend, but despite ignoring basically all real world duties, it doesn’t look like I’m going to make it. Still have yet to meet the duergar and try to resolve that whole thing with the gnomes and the myconoids. #baldursgate3

18:55 # Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s really annoying that Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t tell you with exact specificity what “loose ends” you need to finish in that Act 2 warning at the Mountain Pass, so I’m forced to do everything in every direction I can possibly find. It’s impossible for me to conceive of how it would be challenging to consult the internal database and display a list of quests that aren’t progressed far enough. (Well, that’s not entirely true, but it would have to be a really poorly designed system of parts that can’t communicate with one another, and it would have to be a lot of willful ignoring of something that must surely have been a common complaint for the entire time the game was in early access. Then again, game software rarely impresses me with the quality of its software design.) #baldursgate3
