Maybe spoilers but not really. More of a cautionary tale about gameplay mechanics.

09:36 # So last night I ended up slaughtering a lot of goblins in Baldur’s Gate 3, but in the harsh light of day this morning, I realize that I probably didn’t need to do that. It was easy (after over 40 hours in the game, it was some of the first easy fighting in the game for me, to be honest–more reasons to think I was supposed to go there first), but still. I don’t think any of them were actually hostile toward the party. I got confused into thinking they were hostile because when you’re sneaking, all the bright red “don’t step here or you’ll be spotted” area on the ground makes me think that if I’m spotted, I’ll be attacked immediately. Red = hostile enemy, right? Video games 101. But I think I could have just stood up and walked around freely. Oh well. Sorry goblins. #baldursgate3

16:17 # Oops I think I redeployed a previous version of my site accidentally, so my most recent post disappeared for a bit. That’s what I get for trying to update the Baldur’s Gate 3 story page outside the normal release process. #blog

21:14 # Baldur’s Gate 3. More goblin carnage in Baldur’s Gate 3 tonight, but this time they started it. #baldursgate3

(Actually, that’s not true at all. I picked a dialog option that directly led to combat, though the game didn’t leave me much of a choice. Soooooo yeah. I mean they could have chosen to run away, so it’s still their own fault for dying.)
